El Calafate is a charming town in the Argentine part of Patagonia. It is located along the shores of Lago Argentino, and the town serves as the gateway to the stunning Los Glaciares National Park. Perito Moreno Glacier is an easily reached glacier just west of the town of El Calafate in Argentine Patagonia. The glacier is a part of the well-visited Los Glaciares National Park and a huge tourist asset of the region.
When you visit Perito Moreno Glacier, you can experience it up close and walk a series of boardwalks that offer stunning views of the glacier’s towering ice walls. One of the most thrilling aspects of visiting this glacier is witnessing the dramatic calving of ice, where smaller og larger chunks of ice break off and crash into the waters of the lake Lago Argentino below.
