Zion National Park is an American national park located in a mountainous area in southwestern Utah. It is a place where the Colorado Plateau meets the Mojavo Desert and the Great Basin drainage basin and desert. That meeting creates a rich animal and plant life and many geological formations such as buttes, mesas and canyons between the national park’s mountains. The large southern section around the town of Springdale was made a national park in 1919, while the northwestern section around Kolob Canyon was added in 1937.
The main attraction in the park is the canyon that the Virgin River has carved out of the plateau over millions of years. Historically, the Colorado Plateau was created by volcanoes depositing enormous amounts of material, and through colossal pressure and heat, the lower layers became rocks, which through land uplift formed the high plateau, which still lies as a plateau several kilometers high. Subsequently, the area’s rains cut tiny cracks in the rocks, where water could run naturally towards the sea, and small cracks eventually became areas such as Zion Canyon and the Grand Canyon.
You can drive through the park on Road 9 through Springdale and that way get to know the beautiful landscapes. Coming to Springdale from the east, you come through the interesting Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel, which was blasted and bored through the rocks from the late 1920s and opened on July 4, 1930 as a part of the Grand Loop, which was created to stimulate tourism by connecting the national parks of southern Utah with the Grand Canyon. The tunnel is 1.8 kilometers long and is a masterpiece of engineering of its time.
If you want to see the beautiful canyon that Zion National Park is famous for, you must take one of the Canyon Line shuttle buses that run from the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. From here, the buses travel north through the gorge that the Virgin River has carved out of the area’s sandstone cliffs. There are a total of 9 stops including the stop at the visitor center, and you can get off and on along the way if you want to enjoy the scenery through Zion Canyon extra much or go on some hikes along the park’s trails.
All the way on the bus through Zion Canyon there are beautiful views, and one is more breathtaking than the other. The same when you go for walks on some of the many trails that start from the various shuttle bus stops. You can walk along several routes from the Visitor Center, and you can, for example, also choose the Emerald Pools path from stop number 5, which is Zion Lodge. From shuttle stop 6, called The Grotto, you can walk along The Grotto Trail and Kayenta Trail, while the Riverside Walk starts from stop 9, called Temple of Sinawava. The name comes from the site’s rock formations, which form a natural amphitheater carved out by the Virgin River over time.
You can also visit Zion National Park in the northwest area of the park. Here you have to drive along Road 15 and turn east and drive to the park along Kolob Canyons Road, where you can visit the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center to get a good introduction to the area.
If you drive along the road, you come to a viewpoint where the impressive mountains tower in a beautiful panorama right in front of you. At the viewpoint and several other places along the Kolob Canyons Road, you can choose to walk along trails of varying length and difficulty.
There is also a third road that leads to Zion National Park. It is Kolob Terrace Road that leads to the Kolob Terrace area, which is a less visited part of the park. The road goes north from the town of Virgin, and along the way you come through a great variety of landscapes, where there are lots of trails and viewpoints.
The Left Fork and the access to the unique formation called The Subway is one of the most popular trails in this part of the national park, and continuing north you can visit the Lava Point Overlook, located at 2,405 meters and literally at the top of the park. From here there is a view over large parts of Zion National Park, and you can easily see the park’s many canyons and the mountains around them.

Here are activities 24 hours a day; whether you go here to gamble, to get married in one of the many Wedding Chapels or just to soak up the pulse and entertainment of the city.
The entertainment at the hotels is centered around the main street of Las Vegas Boulevard, also called The Strip. A lot of mega hotels are located along the street, and part of the visit here in Nevada’s largest city is to visit them and their extravagant buffets and special attractions, such as volcanic eruptions, large waterfalls, fountains, pirates and the half-size Eiffel Tower.
Valley of Fire State Park is a large area designated as a state park in Nevada. The park takes its name from the beautiful sandstone formations of Aztec sandstone, which were formed from sand dunes about 150 million years ago. The red formations almost glow as if they have been set on fire when they reflect the rays of the Sun.
The colors and formations are the state park’s major attractions, and you can enjoy a great variety in the landscape on a drive through the area. The landscape was geologically created through a combination of land uplifts, shifts in faults and heavy erosion. Sandstone and old dunes dominate the landscape, and the rock formations also consist of limestone and slate.

Grand Canyon National Park is an large park that is home to the world-famous natural wonder of the Grand Canyon. The park is located around 447 kilometers of the Colorado River, which over millions of years has shaped the landscape into the colossal canyon that today is in the northeastern part of the state of Arizona.
The dimensions of the Grand Canyon are huge, and the gorge is between 6 and 29 kilometers wide. The depth varies with the greatest depth reaching up to 1,600 meters, and the meandering course of the Colorado River continues to dig deeper, although it happens at a geological pace. All the way along the river, the canyon is bursting with an artist’s sense of shapes and colors, and everywhere there is a play in the sun’s rays against the mainly red-hued rock formations, and that is an unforgettable sight.
