Introduction

The island of Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean and is blessed with a mild climate which, along with the atmosphere, nature, culture and sights of the island, attracts many tourists. Major destinations include both the capital Havana, areas such as Pinar del Río and the beaches of, for example, Varardero. Everywhere there are unforgettable things and places waiting to be seen and explored.

Havana is the epitome of the Cuban people's soul. Here you will find music, cigars, brightly colored houses, good food and American cars from the 1950s. It is all located in the streets and in the squares, which, like many buildings, date from the Spanish colonial era. There are many highlights such as the city's cathedral and the promenade Malecón, which stretches along the seaside in the central part of the city.

A trip to Cuba is also the meeting with one of the 20th century's most politically discussed countries in the Americas. This is where Fidel Castro led the revolution, replacing Fulgencio Bastista with the introduction of socialism that was not seen anywhere else in the region. That time is still special for Cuba and meant, among other things, that the many old cars on the island were preserved.

Around Cuba there are many other places of interest than Havana. A tour can bring you around to beautiful cities such as Cienfuegos, Santa Clara and Trinidad, and you can also choose a trip to national parks or enjoy the lovely water on beaches such as Varadero and the Bay of Pigs.
