Latvia Travel Guide

Latvia is located as the middle of the three Baltic countries, and it is a country where many other countries over time have  influenced the architecture and culture. The result is a very exciting destination in the form of modern Latvia, which is graphically close to the center of Europe an surely the center of many sights an activities.

Riga is the largest city in Latvia and in the Baltic countries, and a visit here is like coming to a major European metropolis with everything such as sights, churches, culture, events, cafes, gastronomy and shopping. One of the distinctive features of the city is the many Art Nouveau houses that were built in the early 1900s.

Around the country there are several interesting cities such as Daugavpils to the east and Liepaja to the west. Both here and elsewhere, pleasant city centers await in places that are somewhat smaller than the capital. You can also choose to see the country's beautiful castles; they count not least Rastrelli's works in Jelgava and Rundale and the old castle in Bauska.

The Latvian landscapes are characterized by flat plains, large forests and long stretches of coastline. From Riga, there is not far to the seaside resort of Jurmala, which is located along Riga Bay's almost endless sandy beaches. The Baltic Sea coast is also worth a visit, as is the hilly and wooded landscape at Sigulda.
