Introduction
Sweden is Europe's fifth largest country, and much of it consists of large forests, lakelands and mountains. It is a Scandinavian nature that, together with the Swedish metropolitan cities, offers a great variety of sights and activities in the country.
The capital Stockholm is built on water where Lake Mälaren meets the Mid Swedish archipelago, and it is a location that is among the most beautiful in the world. The Old Town, Gamla Stan, the town hall and the Vasa Museum are major sights in the city. Remember to board a boat trip as well.
The Swedish metropolises along the west coast, Gothenburg and Malmö, are both interesting and historically significant with many museums, amusement parks and heritage buildings. Malmö's old Danish history also shines through the modern Swedish city in the center of the Øresund city region.
Swedish nature offers everything from lovely sandy beaches and tranquil lakes to the fantastic archipelago along much of the coastline. In Norrland north of the Arctic Circle, the landscape is different with both the midnight sun and the northern lights, and there are plenty of opportunities for skiing.
