The capital city of Taipei is an interesting Chinese metropolis, where there is a lovely atmosphere. The city offers attractions and fine museums with large collections, and many of the country's large and beautiful buildings can be seen here. The most famous is the skyscraper Taipei 101, one of the tallest buildings in the world, and the impressive mausoleum of Chiang Kai-shek.
If you want more urban experiences, Kaohsiung to the south also has a lot to offer, not least modern buildings, a good garden atmosphere and beautiful nature close to the city center. There are also cultural, historical and gastronomic delights in Kaohsiung. Some of the island's tallest buildings, and city temples from earlier centuries are here as contrasts.
Taiwan's nature is characterized by mountains created through volcanic activity. They cover about 70% of the island and there are beutiful lakes such as Sun Moon Lake and national parks such as the famous Taroko National Park on the island. Also, don't forget the beautiful coastal landscapes with both cliffs and beaches like Dulan Beach.
